Four Year 11 Bower Park students are headed to University!
Christopher Do, Norbert Leks, Hallie Lopes and Yasin Usman have all secured a place to attend Experience Health Sciences Week, from Monday 30th July to Saturday 4th August. This is a great opportunity for students to experience university living and life! Successful applicants participate in a residential week at two top universities. Students will spend three days at Queen Mary University and three days at Warwick University.
The week is intended to encourage students to apply to Russell Group universities and includes:
- Clinical practical sessions
- ‘Problem-based learning’ project and presentation
- Discussion with current university students
- Advice and guidance sessions designed to maximise their chances of achieving an offer
- Social activities
There are twenty-four Russell Group universities, which are all world class, research intensive universities committed to maintaining the very best research, outstanding teaching and learning, with unrivalled links to businesses and the public sector. They produce over two-thirds of the research produced in UK universities and are recognised as producing some of the best graduates in the country.
This scheme is highly competitive, with only thirty places allocated nationally, of which fifteen are awarded to London schools. For one school to secure over 25% of these places is unheard of and a great achievement, both for our school and for the individual students.
