On Thursday, 22nd August, the class of 2019 came to the Academy to collect their results. It has proven to be a highly successful year, with this year’s examination results being the best in the school’s history and showing a significant improvement on the 2018 results.
The percentage of students achieving grade 5 or above in both English and Maths has more than doubled compared to 2018 (109% improvement). English results were improved and maths results jumped considerably. Well done to the Maths and English teams, led by Ms Bell and Mr Joseph respectively.
Similar significant improvements have been achieved in Science, Modern Foreign Languages, Geography and Drama, with all subjects improving their results compared to 2018.
Katie Braybrook achieved the best set of results, with seven grade 9s. Izabella Clarke, Jaime Coates, Alice Compton, Krischa Gonzales, Lois Ryott, Adam Sabri and Michelle Ssevume also achieved exceptionally well, with eight or more passes at grade 7 or better, while Oliver Aldred-Reagen, Kirsten Bende, Caitlin Chambers, Megan Smith and David White all showed excellent progress compared to their KS2 test scores, achieving 2 or 3 grades higher than expected.
Since joining the Empower Learning Academy Trust, Bower Park has been on a trajectory of rapid improvement. This year’s results reflect this progress and the hard work of our students. Above all, I am pleased that the majority of our students have achieved results that will set them up for success, not only in their next stage of learning, but also their adult lives. I am so proud of their achievements and wish them luck for the future.
I would like to thank my dedicated and committed staff. They have provided the support and guidance necessary to enable students to succeed. I feel very privileged to work with such an amazing team of people.
