On Tuesday, 7th May, our Under 15 boys and girls became East of England handball champions. We were representing Essex and travelled to Cambridge to take on the best schools from the region. Both teams qualified for the finals, with the boys winning four out of five group games and the girls winning all five of their matches.
The boys played Samuel Whitbread Academy from Stevenage in the final and produced their strongest performance to win 6-2.
The girls played Thurston Community College from Bury St Edmunds in their final, and, after going 2-0 down, came back to win 4-2.
Both teams played incredibly well and have qualified for the national finals on the 9th June in Worcester, alongside the Under 13 girls, who are London champions. This means that Bower Park has three out of our four teams in the national finals, which must make us one of the strongest academies in the whole country for handball. Congratulations to all our players on their amazing success this year, and well done to the PE Department. This is a fantastic achievement!
