Bower Park Academy Uniform Expectations 

We insist on the following simple, but smart, uniform for all students at the school, and rely on parents for their full support. 

If there are any doubts or queries with regard to our uniform policy, please contact us prior to purchasing new clothing/equipment etc. 

There is a scheme of financial assistance for the purchase of children’s school clothing. If you think you qualify or if you experience any difficulty with providing the uniform for your child, please contact the school directly. 

All such enquiries are dealt with sympathetically and in the strictest confidence. 

  • PE kit must only be worn for PE/dance lessons or for a sporting event;
  • Non-uniform hoodies, sweatshirt or jumpers are not allowed in school.  They must not be worn instead of a coat or for PE; if seen these will be confiscated;
  • Extreme dress is not permitted at any time including visible coloured undergarments;
  • Tongue studs, eyebrow, nose, lip and facial piercings are not allowed at school. Students will be required to remove any facial jewellery.
  • Make-up must not be worn in KS3; this includes foundation and fake tan, black eye liner, eye-shadow, mascara, fake eyelashes and lipstick.
  • Discreet make-up may be worn for Years 10 and 11 ; students wearing excessive make up will be required to remove it.
  • No coloured nail varnish or false nails (eg gels, acrylic nails).
  • Nails must be natural.

The uniform consists of:

Girls

Black Bower Park blazer (to be purchased from Havering Schoolwear only).

Black knee-length pleated skirt (to be purchased from Havering Schoolwear only).

White collar shirt.

Clip-on school tie (purchased from Havering Schoolwear).

Black ankle socks. Plain, no frills or motif.

Plain black tights (no pattern) or flesh coloured tights.

Black trousers may be worn, but no jersey or denim material.

Black Kicker footwear is acceptable as long as it is a shoe or an ankle boot. 

The Kicker plimsolls/ trainers are not allowed and nor are any other brands that resemble a trainer. If in doubt contact the school for advice.   

Hair accessories (e.g. hair bands, clips, head veils) should be discreet.

Any fashion/beauty accessory which causes a health and safety risk will be asked to be removed during certain activities for the safety of the student. 

Boys

Black Bower Park blazer (to be purchased from Havering Schoolwear only).

Black trousers (no jersey or denim material).

White collar shirt.

Clip-on school tie (purchased from Havering Schoolwear).

Black ankle socks.

All students 

V-necked black Bower Park jumper (purchased from Havering Schoolwear).

Outdoor coats should be of a serviceable colour and preferably weather-proof.

No jewellery is to be worn (including earrings) by any student (religious / SOS jewellery can be worn with previous   agreement from the Principal by means of a letter stating the religious intent).

No make-up /nail polish is to be worn.

Hair styles should be smart and sensible.

P.E  Kit

Bower Park PE shirt. 

Bower Park Black shorts.

Bower Park football socks.

(all purchased from Havering Schoolwear).

Trainers (with non-marking soles).

Shin pads.

Towel (optional.)

You will be able to purchase online, in the shop and over the phone. You can have your orders delivered to you or can arrange click and collect.
